catering and VAT

Business Russia supported the plans of the Moscow authorities to reduce VAT for catering

The Moscow branch of the organization "Business Russia" supports the proposal of the Moscow authorities to reduce VAT for the restaurant business. This was stated by the chairman of the committee on restaurant business in Moscow "Business Russia" Sergey Mironov.

He drew attention to the fact that the pandemic of the coronavirus "skating rink" walked through the common pit, changing the arrangement of forces. Fast food against the background of this situation only succeeded, but restaurants and cafes of high cuisine, which largely determine the face of the metropolis, suffered losses.

"Therefore, the decision of the Moscow authorities to support the initiative of the business community to reduce VAT for the restaurant industry to 10 percent is so important," Mironov emphasized.

According to him, this initiative has already been sent to the government of the Russian Federation by the deputy mayor of Moscow on economic policy and property and land relations Vladimir Efimov. Relevant departments are also beginning to actively study it.

Mironov believes that supporting this proposal is an important step in preserving the capital's restaurant industry. Value added tax, according to the head of the Moscow Business Russia restaurant business committee, is the main problem that hinders the development of the entire sphere.

Delving into the details of the issue, Mironov said that the restaurant in fact does not have incoming VAT, since most of the suppliers are individual entrepreneurs working under a simplified tax system. It allows you not to pay these taxes. At the same time, agricultural suppliers must pay 10 percent of VAT, although the outgoing VAT is 20 percent. As a result, an imbalance arises, due to which many catering enterprises prefer the USN scheme. However, this option "puts a limit on profit, which means it does not allow to develop," Mironov notes. According to him, such businessmen do not have the opportunity to open new restaurants and remain in the plus, since they immediately go beyond the USN. All this does not allow investors to develop and enter the IPO, the expert summarizes.

Mironov also stated the need to get away from the "simplification" in order to attract sponsorship of banks and investment companies.
