Ombudsman Sergey Mironov: Burger King and KFC are likely to remain in Russia

Fast food chains Burger King and KFC, most likely, will not leave Russia. This was stated by the Moscow restaurant business Ombudsman Sergey Mironov to RIA Novosti.

"KFC won't go anywhere, even if it really wants to. Most of the KFC is a franchise. No franchise agreement provides for closure after the top team. With all the desire of KFC to close in Russia, it will be impossible, because they will not be able to close franchisees in principle," he explained.

As for Burger King, the ombudsman noted that he doubts that the chain will also leave. According to Mironov, the Russian Burger King has Russian roots. "It was bought by Russians, so the situation is possible as with KFC. If a decision is made to close Burger King, then, most likely, it will cause resistance from operators," he concluded.

Earlier, the media reported that McDonald's restaurants in Russia will suspend work for three months. Recall that on the eve of the management of McDonald's announced that it would temporarily close all its 850 restaurants in Russia. At the same time, 62 thousand employees of the network will continue to receive salaries.
