Got delivery

The number of orders from restaurants has decreased by 15% since the beginning of March

People in the crisis began to save on ready-made food.

The number of orders for the delivery of food from restaurants in Russia from March 1 to March 20 decreased by 12-15% compared to the same period in February, follows from the data of the Chek Index resource. The CloudPayments service (part of the Cloud group) calculated that on the same dates, the online turnover of ready-made food delivery decreased by 18% in monetary terms, and the number of orders decreased by 16%. Service analysts believe that such a decrease in demand for the delivery of ready-made food may be due to a review of spending due to economic difficulties - people have become less likely to order ready-made food and switched to cooking at home.

The drop in online delivery from restaurants is confirmed by their owners. For Meat and Fish restaurants, including franchising, the online drop was about 20%, says Sergey Mironov, founder of the chain, vice president of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia and Ombudsman for the Moscow restaurant business. The restaurateur Stanislav Lisichenko (Chinese News) also says that the second week delivery drops by 10–15%. He considers this decrease small and so far - for a short period of time - not critical. In his opinion, delivery customers could be happy about the removal of covid restrictions and go to offline restaurants, but he does not exclude the possibility that customers decided to save money and “switched to buckwheat”. According to Lisichenko, it will be clear in a month how stable the trend to reduce delivery is and what exactly caused it. Restaurateurs Arkady Novikov, Alexander Rappoport and Anastasia Tatulova did not respond to a request from Vedomosti.
