The turnover of Moscow restaurants will be restored from the first day of the cancellation of QR codes. This was announced on Friday, July 16, by Boris Titov, the Commissioner for the Protection of the rights of Entrepreneurs under the President of the Russian Federation.
"The turnover will recover from the first day. Moreover, due to the deferred demand, they will exceed past indicators, " he said in an interview with TASS.
The expert expressed doubts that many restaurants were closed, as "the period of restrictions was quite short". According to him, the losses of public catering during this period amounted to 30-90%, depending on the availability of a veranda.
However, the commissioner in the field of restaurant business in the capital, Sergey Mironov, believes that the restaurant business will be restored for a long time — several months, since the losses of catering are very serious.
In addition, the expert said that the cancellation of QR codes was not a surprise for entrepreneurs of the restaurant business, since they recently made such a proposal to the mayor of the capital.
"We wrote a letter to [the mayor of the city] Sergei Sobyanin not so long ago, we outlined our arguments, our vision there, and the mayor met us halfway by making this wonderful decision to cancel mandatory QR codes," Mironov explained.
Since July 19, the system of mandatory QR codes for visiting restaurants and cafes has been canceled in Moscow, the corresponding decision was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, earlier that day. According to him, the system has fulfilled its task, there is an improvement in the situation with the coronavirus in the city and good dynamics in vaccination.
At the same time, the head of the city stressed that the abolition of the mandatory presentation of QR codes for visiting public catering places does not mean the termination of all other epidemic requirements.
The governor of the Moscow region, Andrey Vorobyov, in turn, made a similar decision against the background of stabilization of the situation with the spread of COVID-19 in the region.
