without POS, not SOS

The Poster cloud-based automated accounting system for the restaurant business, launched in 2010 by developers from Dnepropetrovsk, announced its withdrawal from the Russian market on March 1, 2022. Overnight, 10 thousand Russian users from small businesses lost not only access, but also lost data on previously conducted transactions, TASS found out what the departure of this system means for the hotel and restaurant business and whether there is a quick replacement.

Sudden shutdown

The departure of the system is connected with Russia's military special operation in Ukraine. The official representative of Poster in Russia, Pavel Cherpinsky, noted that the terminals stopped working for customers due to a sudden shutdown, respectively, they could not operate without violating Federal Law No. 54 ("The Law on the Use of Cash Registers when making payments in the Russian Federation"). Also, data on transaction transactions and warehouse balances have become unavailable.

In addition, Poster allowed you to work on any hardware (tablet and even phone) both a small cafe and a huge franchise (some network customers of the system had about 140-200 establishments). The cost ranged from 1,520 to 4,720 rubles per month, and the most popular tariff was 3,120 rubles. Other analogues on average cost several times higher.

Search for solutions

The Ombudsman for the Moscow restaurant business, Sergey Mironov, believes that despite the need for large expenditures on new software, nothing "globally terrible" has happened.

"Another thing is that the servers have fallen and the data is lost. There was a failure with the checks, now their users are trying to switch to another software. But I am sure that market players will restore everything," Mironov said.
